Greenville Drive Struggles in Loss to Jersey Shore BlueClaws

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Greenville Drive faced a tough challenge in their second game against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, suffering an 11-2 defeat that leveled their six-game series. With this result, the BlueClaws improved their record to 25-39, while the Drive fell to 26-36.

The action intensified in the third inning as Dylan Brown took the mound for Greenville. He started strong, retiring the first six batters, but lost control, allowing four runs in the third. The BlueClaws opened the scoring with three consecutive singles, followed by a three-run homer from Nick Biddison, who put Jersey Shore ahead 4-0.

Greenville managed to score one run in the fourth inning when Justin Gonzales drew a walk and later crossed home plate on a double from Yoeilin Cespedes. However, Jersey Shore quickly responded. After Luis Caicuto walked and stole both second and third, he scored on an RBI single from Tyler Pettorini, extending the lead to 5-1.

Brown's outing ended in the fifth after issuing a walk, leading to a forced groundout that brought Nick Biddison home. Yophery Rodriguez later contributed another run for the Drive, bringing Gerardo Rodriguez across the plate. But the BlueClaws pulled away with a five-run rally, highlighted by a two-run homer from Luke Davis, bringing the score to 11-2.

Greenville's offense struggled, recording just five hits against Jersey Shore's 16, leaving ten runners on base and going 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Cespedes and Rodriguez accounted for the two RBIs for the Drive. Biddison led the BlueClaws, finishing 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a home run, while Davis added to his team’s success with another homer and three hits. Although Brown struck out seven batters, he was charged with the loss. Jake Eddington earned the victory for Jersey Shore with 1.1 scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit.

The Drive will aim to bounce back in game three of the series, scheduled for 7:05 PM tomorrow.
