Anaheim, Calif. — Jackson Jobe is leveling up.

The Tigers’ talented right-hander, who is methodically working his way back from Tommy John surgery, is scheduled to make his next rehab start Sunday evening with Double-A Erie at Richmond.

“It was important that he pitch against the next level,” manager AJ Hinch said. “We wanted to get him away from A-ball.”

It will be Jobe’s third rehab start. He pitched 1⅓ innings at Low-A Lakeland and then last week threw three breezy innings against hitters in the Florida Coast League.

“He’s doing really well,” Hinch said. “He’s hitting 100 mph, so he’s not easing in.”

Hinch said he expects Jobe, who will build his pitch count as a starting pitcher, to pitch three innings Sunday, with the added intensity of facing a higher level of hitters.
