Jemele Hill Drops 3-Word Reaction to ‘Weirdo’ President Donald Trump Calling LeBron James ‘Racist’ After 76ers Move

Everyone was offering their two cents in the weeks leading up to LeBron James’ fateful free agency decision. Now that he’s agreed to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million contract, that hasn’t changed.

The community is still talking about James, only now it’s more about his fit with a 76ers roster that added Jaylen Brown. Even President Donald Trump weighed in on James’ free agency decision.

Not long after word broke that James was signing with the 76ers, the news reached the president. While at the White House on Friday, Trump was asked for his take on who the better basketball player is: James or Michael Jordan.

“Well, Michael Jordan’s a guy that’s a friend of mine, play golf with him,” Trump said. “He’s a really good guy. And I think LeBron is maybe, he’s a racist, but maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I don’t know. But I only like people that like me. So I would say Michael Jordan all the way.”

Shortly after the controversial remarks by the U.S. President, Jemele Hill of ‘The Atlantic’ saw Trump’s answer and responded on social media.

“What a weirdo 😂😂😂”

Then again, these two (Trump and James) have gone after each other before. It was back in 2017, during Trump’s first term in office, when James posted in support of Stephen Curry, who declined an invitation to the White House after the Golden State Warriors’ championship.

Once declined, Trump rescinded the invitation.

Speaking of James’ free agency decision, prominent analyst Colin Cowherd earlier predicted that the four-time champion joining the 76ers could form the best starting five he’s ever been a part of.

NBA insider Shams Charania echoed that opinion, arguing that Philadelphia’s strong roster was part of the reason the 41-year-old decided to sign with them in free agency.

“… When you look at their roster, they have Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid. And we were all going to take whatever LeBron James, his intentions were at face value. He made it very clear from the beginning,” Charania said.

“The Sixers were not even in the picture, on the map, until Bob Myers traded for Jaylen Brown… LeBron looked at that roster, he looked at the Cavs roster, he looked at the Heat roster, and he is choosing the Philadelphia 76ers.”

Meanwhile, addressing James’ legacy may be a bit premature, considering he just signed up to play two more years, only now he’ll be joining the 76ers.

But winning two more rings would place the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar in a direct tie with Jordan, who won six championships with the Chicago Bulls.
