Jürgen Klopp won’t stay with Red Bull in any capacity
Contrary to some previous reports, if Jürgen Klopp takes the job as German national team head coach, he will not keep a part-time gig with Red Bull. If anything, Red Bull would just like to be able to pick Klopp’s brain every now and again.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg had the news:
🚨❌ As repeatedly reported and most recently explained live on Sky and RTL: it was NEVER planned for Jürgen Klopp to remain a Red Bull ambassador while serving as the new Bundestrainer.
Reports suggesting otherwise were wide of the mark. It was never part of the phone calls and not even part of the thinking at Red Bull or for Oliver Mintzlaff.
Red Bull’s only wish is for Klopp to remain available from time to time to share his expertise while serving as Bundestrainer. This and all remaining Red Bull details are set to be discussed and finalised in New York by early next week. @SkySportDE
As weird as it sounds, the job with the DFB will probably require most of Klopp’s time. Aside of monitoring talent, making squad selections, implementing a style of play, and building a whole new mentality, Klopp will surely take a hands on role with tasks like talent development and coaching development, while also lending input on capital planning projects such as facilities and infrastructure improvements.
It’s clear, Klopp will be a bust guy.
