The Kentucky Wildcats officially commenced their summer practice on Monday, but fans were given a sneak peek at the team's revamped lineup through social media snippets shared over the weekend. On Sunday, the team’s social media accounts highlighted players undergoing athletic assessments, showcasing agility drills and vertical leap tests, which built anticipation for the official start of workouts.
On Monday, the videos revealed the developing chemistry among the new squad members. One notable moment featured sophomore Malachi Moreno making a smart play by passing to Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic, who then sank a three-pointer after a well-timed screen. The connection between Moreno and Momcilovic was evident, hinting at a promising partnership on the court.
Another highlight from practice showcased Furman transfer Alex Wilkins, known for his offensive skills, as he drove into the lane and assisted Braydon Hawthorne for a successful three-point shot. If the Wildcats can maintain consistent perimeter shooting this season, they could pose a significant threat offensively, a challenge they faced in the previous year.
After practice, Wilkins shared his thoughts with UK Sports Network, describing the first day as “great” and filled with “high energy” and skilled players. He also singled out teammate Ousmane N’Diaye, affectionately nicknamed "Uzi," praising his competitive spirit and quick adaptation to the American game. The team’s camaraderie has also been strengthened by their shared living arrangements this summer, which Wilkins noted has fostered deeper connections.
As summer practices commence, enthusiasm among Kentucky fans is palpable. However, it’s worth noting that Kam Williams is currently being held out of practice as a precaution while recovering from foot surgery. Reports indicate there is no immediate concern, with the team taking careful steps to ensure Williams’ safe return to full-contact workouts.
