Manchester United's Pursuit of Everton Defender Jarrad Branthwaite Continues
Manchester United remains intent on acquiring established Premier League talents, though they may need to pay a premium for these players. Recently, the club stepped away from a possible deal for Elliot Anderson after Nottingham Forest set a record fee for the midfielder.
Currently, Mateus Fernandes has surfaced as a primary target for United's midfield, but West Ham United is demanding over £80 million for the promising 21-year-old. Similar challenges lie ahead as the club seeks to bolster its defensive lineup.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United is keeping a close eye on Jarrad Branthwaite, a central defender for Everton. The 6ft 5in left-footed player has attracted interest from United since his emergence at Everton. Although he reached a personal agreement with the club to join Old Trafford, Everton turned down two offers from United last summer.
Branthwaite has faced injury setbacks since then, yet his strong one-on-one defending, versatility, and ability to progress the ball have kept him on the radar of several top clubs, including Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Everton is reportedly seeking over £70 million for the 25-year-old defender.
In addition to Branthwaite, United is also aiming to enhance their left-wing options and is interested in Everton's Iliman Ndiaye. The 26-year-old winger is known for his outstanding dribbling skills and is also being pursued by Arsenal and Manchester City. Despite Everton's reluctance to let him go, Ndiaye has yet to sign a new contract after joining from Marseille in 2024, which suggests he may be open to a move to a more competitive setting.
