Michigan State Hockey Announces Nonconference Matchup with RIT
Michigan State University’s hockey team has unveiled a new addition to its nonconference schedule for the upcoming season. Following the announcement of their Big Ten schedule for 2026-27 on Thursday, the Spartans will travel to Rochester, New York, for a match against the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) on October 17. This event will be a standalone game rather than part of a weekend series, aligning with their plans to also compete in Texas against North Dakota.
This matchup holds special significance for the Spartans' assistant coach, Jared DeMichiel, who once excelled as a goaltender for RIT between 2006 and 2010. Although the complete nonconference schedule has yet to be released, the confirmed travels to both Texas and New York are notable highlights.
