Nacho Fernández: “Good things are coming with Mourinho in charge”

Former Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernández talked to AS and shared his thoughts on José Mourinho’s return to the Spanish capital. It’s worth noting that Nacho made his debut for the club during Mourinho’s first year at Real Madrid back in 2011.

“I don’t know if in the end they’ll win titles, because in the end this is football and it’s not easy, but he will have the players committed, he’ll have them at 100%. The intensity he puts into every training session and every match, I, having been on the inside, can assure you is 100%. So, if the players and Mourinho manage to be all on the same page, I have no doubt that good things are coming for Real Madrid. Mou is a Real Madrid fan, he’s a madridista. That’s what’s important, he perfectly understands what it means to win and to lose at this club. If the players are with him all the way, beautiful things are coming for Real Madrid,” said Nacho.

As a defender, Nacho also discussed Cucurella’s signing for Real Madrid.

“So, the word is ‘super-signing.’ Intensity, 100%, always wanting to fight for his team… He brings together the perfect characteristics to play for Real Madrid. And I think, also, he’s a player who’s going to come in very handy right now, at a time when this intensity is required. Besides knowing Cucurella, of course, I wish him all the luck in the world. I am completely sure that he’s going to keep fulfilling dreams and goals there, at Real Madrid. All the luck in the world to him,” he said.
