Napoli Boss Allegri Keen on Keeping Superstar Duo
Frank Anguissa is again facing an uncertain future because of his short-term contract with Napoli, while Juventus have laid eyes on Stanislav Lobotka, but, if it were up to Massimiliano Allegri, both would stay, Matteo Moretto reports (via SOSFanta).
The Cameroonian talisman has entered the final year of his deal. It had been prolonged through the activation of options in the past. Despite some rumors and negotiations, he never got a richer and longer renewal. The talks ground to a halt because of a serious thigh injury last season.
The Napoli boss would be content to continue relying on Anguissa and Lobotka a while longer. While Juventus may covet the ‘regista,’ it’s unlikely they’ll offer as much as the Partenopei demand, Mediaset reports (via Tuttomercatoweb). And that might not even be enough, given the rivalry between the two sides.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the Azzurri will whittle down their squad first in a presser (via Eurosport).
“We have 47 players, and at least 25 have to exit before we can start adding. If there are holes, you have to plug them, but we already have multiple options in every role. We need to speak with the coach, as each has its own methodology. Allegri is a company man, and we’ll get along great.”
Our Take on Napoli, Anguissa, and Lobotka
They have reached the end of the line with the former. They must hand him a new contract, or at least have a solid indication he’ll pen it during the season, or they have to sell him to avoid losing him for zilch. Instead, only a significant offer, most likely from a foreign powerhouse, and a manifest desire to leave could lead to the departure of the latter.
