What was a sweet speech turned into a hilarious moment for New York Knicks guard and power forward OG Anunoby.
While accepting the 2026 ESPY for Best Play on Wednesday, July 15, the 6-foot-7 NBA star towered over the microphone while giving his speech.
“OG, OG, OG,” the audience inside the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City chanted as Anunoby, 28, cracked a smile before beginning his speech.
“It’s truly such an honor to win an ESPY to cap off an amazing year and special moment for our team,” he said.

Taking a brief pause, Anunoby then widened his legs to get closer to the mic and said, “To the best fans in the world..,” before the crowd bursts out into laughter.
Moments later, the camera panned to Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson, who couldn’t contain his amusement.
“To the best fans in the world we thank you for your love and support,” Anunoby said. “Winning a championship for this city is truly so special. I want to thank God, my teammates, the whole entire Knicks organization and to all those who supported me along the way.”
“Go Knicks,” Anunoby said before waving to the crowd and walking off the stage.
Other players joined in on the joke with the likes of Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, who wrote “OG” alongside three laughing emojis on X.
His win comes after the Knicks were crowned this year’s NBA champs. New York defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on June 13.
This isn’t the first time Anunoby has found himself in a meme-able moment.
Following the NBA Finals win, he was seen struggling to end his Instagram Live stream amid the Knicks’ chaotic locker room celebration.

In the funny clip reposted on X, the Knicks chanted in excitement as champagne was sprayed around the Larry O’Brien championship trophy. Towns shouted, “We live, baby, we live!” Anunoby is then heard behind the camera saying, “Wait, my phone [is going] to get messed up.”
As his teammates continued cheering in the background, he turned to someone off-camera and asked, “Wait, how do you end this? Hey, how do you end the live?”
After a few confused seconds, the basketball player abruptly ended the livestream.
