Oklahoma State's Parsa Fallah Pursues Sixth Year of Eligibility Amid Roster Changes

STILLWATER — The summer training sessions for Oklahoma State's men's basketball team have commenced as the Cowboys gear up for the 2026-27 season. Coach Steve Lutz spoke to the media on Tuesday after the team's initial summer practice, marking his third year at the helm. Coming off a 20-15 overall record and a 6-12 finish in Big 12 competition, OSU is poised for a significant transformation with a new lineup this fall.

The Cowboys have made notable additions, bringing in six players from the transfer portal, including four highly-rated four-star athletes, along with four freshmen. Coach Lutz highlighted the ongoing developments during his press conference, particularly the status of senior center Parsa Fallah, who is seeking an additional year of eligibility from the NCAA due to a torn left ACL sustained last February.

“Parsa is petitioning the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility because of some circumstances he had when he first came over to the United States,” Lutz explained. He noted that Fallah remains involved with the team, attending meetings and practices, and is optimistic about his recovery, stating, “He told me the other day he should be running or jogging here pretty soon.” Fallah's injury occurred during an overtime victory against West Virginia when he landed awkwardly after a breakaway dunk.

Alongside Fallah, former Sam Houston standout Kashie Natt is also requesting a waiver for an extra year. “I don’t have any updates,” Lutz said regarding Natt’s situation, who was a key player last season, averaging 10.8 points and earning Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year honors. Lutz praised Natt’s energetic presence in practice, remarking, “You all are gonna really enjoy Kashie. He is an unbelievable human being, but he’s constantly bringing energy.”

In addition to the upperclassmen, OSU’s incoming freshman class is highlighted by Jalen Montonati, a four-star recruit from Owasso. Montonati, who shattered school scoring records, brings impressive stats from high school, averaging 26.8 points per game. Lutz emphasized the importance of local recruiting, aiming to secure top talent within Oklahoma, particularly with Montonati and 2027 prospect Tyson Pogi already committed to the program.

As the Cowboys continue to reshape their roster through the transfer portal and increased NIL investments, Lutz acknowledged the advantages of having more financial resources to attract well-rounded players. “The more money you've got, then you can recruit guys that are about winning and are about the team,” he stated, underscoring the significance of character in building a successful team.
