Parker Kligerman Labels Adam Andretti a 'Disgrace' After Contentious NASCAR Truck Race
After a dramatic conclusion to the NASCAR Truck race at San Diego's Naval Base Coronado on Friday, Parker Kligerman expressed his outrage towards Adam Andretti, calling him a "disgrace" to the Andretti name. Kligerman, who led Stage 2 of the race, found himself entangled in a controversial incident with Andretti in the closing laps, prompting a fiery confrontation on pit road post-race.
In an interview with Motorsport.com’s Matt Weaver, Kligerman detailed the altercation. “I was side-by-side with the 76 [Nathan Nicholson], we’re coming back to the field, into what would have been, let me just do the math on this, (Turn) 9. It’s a tight hairpin, first gear, we turn in and we get creamed by this white car,” he said, indicating Andretti's involvement.
After the incident, Nicholson reached out to Kligerman to express his apologies, but Kligerman clarified that Nicholson was not at fault. “I could see the whole time, this guy [Andretti] just drove in there like an idiot,” he explained, adding that he ultimately confronted Andretti about his reckless driving. “I have a lot of respect for that name, but he does an absolute disgrace to it,” Kligerman stated.
In the aftermath, Kligerman finished 18th, while Andretti ended up in 14th place. This race marked just the fifth start for Andretti in the Truck Series, a challenging environment for any newcomer.
The escalating tensions between Kligerman and Andretti were captured in multiple video clips, showcasing the intensity of their post-race exchange.
