Philadelphia 76ers three-man recruiting team for LeBron James is led by star guard Tyrese Maxey

The Philadelphia 76ers’ pursuit of LeBron James is a star-led initiative with Tyrese Maxey reportedly taking the lead in recruitment efforts.

LeBron’s free agency has led to nearly a third of the NBA pausing their offseason business until James’ decision has been confirmed.

Instead of wasting time without contacting James, the 76ers have come up with a clever way of keeping in touch with James without using overbearing executives.

76ers’ big three actively want LeBron James to join

In a report from ESPN, Dave McMenamin claims that the 76ers’ big three of Maxey, Joel Embiid, and summer addition Jaylen Brown have been actively recruiting James throughout the summer.

The Philadelphia 76ers have kept up their pursuit of the four-time NBA champion through three of their players. Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Jaylen Brown have all been in communication with James, sources told ESPN on Tuesday, with Maxey leading the charge.”

With LeBron relegating almost all executive pitches to be handled by his agent, Rich Paul, individual relationships with players can play a huge role in tipping the scales one way or the other.

Draymond Green self-admittedly made an in-person pitch to James during an offseason hangout, with even players like Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Heat reaching out to convince LeBron.

Maxey and LeBron share the same agent, with James reportedly a huge fan of the xx-year-old 76ers guard. James does love to play alongside high-scoring guards, so the fit with Maxey on this squad is interesting.

Both Brown and Embiid have also been around LeBron in the past and have positive relationships with the 41-year-old.

With their front office led by Mike Gansey, a former Ohio basketball standout who emerged alongside LeBron, the tea leaves pointing to a potential 76ers move are getting harder to ignore.
