Sonny Gray has been one of MLB's most consistent pitchers for a while now.

Consistency doesn't a pitcher into an All-Star Game, though, and so apparently what Gray is doing this season for the Boston Red Sox isn't good enough.

He keeps dealing to the best of his ability, that's for sure.

After giving up just one run in six innings on Friday night in Queens, Gray's ERA is now 2.54. That's the second-best mark in the American League, and sixth-best in baseball.

And yeah, Gray isn't an All Star.

Clearly, by this measure, it's a bit of a snub.

Gray did only strike out three on Wednesday, so it's obvious that at this stage of his career he has to rely more on finesse and experience.

Still, it's clear he has that in droves. The key is figuring out how to get the rest of the baseball world to notice.

Frankly, Gray might not mind the extra time off. His best chance of keeping this up throughout the summer is to take a deep breath and keep doing exactly what he's doing.

ERA isn't everything, but it paints a pretty picture of Gray's season, and he surely deserves to be on an All-Star roster even though apparently that won't be happening.
