In a disappointing matchup, the Boston Red Sox fell to the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0, marking their 10th series loss at Fenway Park this season. Despite a solid performance from pitcher Jake Bennett in his fourth start in the majors, the Red Sox offense remained stagnant, failing to score a single run. This defeat brings Boston's record to 13 games under .500 for the first time since the 2015 season, and they currently sit 10 games below .500 against American League East rivals.

The Blue Jays managed to secure the win without their star pitcher Max Scherzer, who was sidelined again due to back spasms just a week after returning from injury. Scherzer had recently struggled in a rehab outing, allowing three runs in just over three innings against Boston's Triple-A team. However, Toronto's bullpen stepped up, utilizing seven pitchers to keep Boston's struggling lineup in check.

The Red Sox had ample opportunities to score, as they faced a generous Toronto pitching staff that issued seven walks. Yet, Boston's hitters were unable to capitalize, leaving 13 runners on base for the second consecutive night. Currently, the team ranks among the bottom third in Major League Baseball for runners left in scoring position.

With the trade deadline approaching, the situation is prompting discussions about potential roster changes, as the performance continues to affirm the need for strategic adjustments moving forward.
