Rick Fremin reflects on Southeastern’s impressive run and discusses regular season conference championship opportunity

HAMMOND, La. — Southeastern’s impressive win streak was snapped Wednesday after a 4-3 loss to Stephen F. Austin in game three of their series.

The 25 straight victories have put the Lions in position to claim their first Southland Conference regular-season championship in program history.

Southeastern can clinch a share of the title with one win over Nicholls in their upcoming three-game series. The Lions can win it outright with two wins over the Colonels.

The series begins with a doubleheader on Friday. First pitch for game one is set for 4 p.m. in Thibodaux.

Head coach Rick Fremin knows that Southeastern’s rival will make that task anything but easy.

Nicholls is currently third in the Southland standings with the second-best pitching staff in the conference, behind Southeastern.

The Lions have won six of their last ten meetings with the Colonels, but Nicholls has won two of the last three regular-season series.
