In a thrilling contest that saw the Colorado Rockies rally with four home runs, they ultimately fell short to the Chicago Cubs, losing 8-6 in the series finale. This defeat capped off a disappointing road trip for the Rockies, who concluded it with a 2-4 record.

Sean Sullivan's performance on the mound was a mixed bag. Following a promising start to his Major League career, Sullivan encountered difficulties in the second inning. After allowing just one walk and retiring the first three batters he faced, the young left-hander struggled as the Cubs took advantage of his mistakes. The inning began with a walk to Alex Bregman, followed by Ian Happ's single and Matt Shaw's triple, quickly putting the Cubs ahead 2-0. An RBI double from Carson Kelly increased the lead to 3-0, and a two-run homer by Dansby Swanson capped a disastrous inning that saw Sullivan give up five runs.

Despite the tough second inning, Sullivan managed to finish with four innings pitched, yielding eight runs on nine hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer acknowledged Sullivan's challenges but praised his ability to bounce back in the third inning.

On a brighter note, Sterlin Thompson emerged as the standout player for the Rockies. In his first at-bat, he launched his first career home run, hitting it the opposite way. He added another homer in the fifth inning and finished the game with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored, becoming the first Rockies rookie to hit multiple home runs in a game at Wrigley Field.

After Sullivan's departure, Zach Agnos took over on the mound and delivered a solid performance, managing three scoreless innings despite some challenges. The Rockies made a late-game push in the eighth inning, with Hunter Goodman hitting a home run, but it was not enough to overcome the Cubs' substantial lead. The Rockies now look to regroup as they head back to Coors Field for their next series against the Boston Red Sox.
