Rohit Sharma's ODI farewell looks certain as parents reportedly land in London before Lord's finale

Signs are mounting that Rohit Sharma's one-day international journey with India could be drawing to a close, with reports suggesting his parents, Gurunath Sharma and Purnima Sharma, will touch down in London ahead of the series-deciding third ODI at Lord's on July 19.

CREX reported that Rohit personally arranged for his parents to travel to England after being made aware of the selection committee's stance on his future in the format.

"CREX exclusive sources informed that Rohit Sharma's parents have already reached London and will be present at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground to watch the final ODI of the IND vs ENG  series."

The couple is now expected to be present inside the historic Lord's stadium to witness the concluding match of the India-England series in person.

Selectors are said to have already given Rohit the bigger picture

It is understood that both the selection panel and head coach Gautam Gambhir sat down with Rohit last week to lay out their thinking for the road ahead.

The management is reportedly leaning toward building around younger talent, with Yashasvi Jaiswal tipped to take on a far bigger role within the ODI setup moving forward in his place.

The England series could be the final nail in the coffin for Rohit

Rohit's difficulties with the bat were on full display during the second match in Cardiff, a contest England ultimately won by four wickets to level the three-match series at one apiece.

He managed only 10 runs off 18 deliveries inside the Powerplay overs, even as his teammates ensured the side raced to 61 for the loss of just one wicket during that same window. Things got worse from there, as he endured a stretch of nine successive dot balls before eventually holing out for a laboured 26 off 47 balls.

Rohit was undone while attempting a sweep against Will Jacks. His broader numbers heading into this series hardly help his case either, with just a single half-century and an average hovering around 30.12 across eight matches in this calendar year.

With the family reportedly making the trip specially for this occasion and selectors having already communicated their vision for the future, all signs point toward Sunday's clash at the Home of Cricket being the curtain call of a storied one-day career.
