Notably, ESPN.com, Pro Football Reference, and Wikipedia erroneously list Gardner as 25 years old, with a birth date of August 31, 2000. However, Gardner clarified during a recent Colts minicamp that he is, in fact, 24 years old.

“I’m 24,” Gardner confirmed to reporters, adding, “It’s crazy that I’m even being asked this. Yes [I’m sure]. You can ask my mom.” The confusion extends to EA Sports’ well-known “Madden” video game, which also states that Gardner was born in 2000. Gardner expressed surprise upon learning this, stating, “It’s wrong in Madden, too? That’s crazy because I never checked.” He emphasized that all official documents he has signed indicate a birth year of 2001.

This discrepancy has sparked considerable discussion on social media, with fans split over what to believe regarding Gardner’s age. James Boyd of The Athletic reported that efforts are underway to trace the origins of this misinformation, as various sites have been contacted for clarification.

A representative from Sports Reference, which runs Pro Football Reference, indicated that their information is typically drawn from a school’s media guide and corroborated with reliable sources like ESPN and Fox Sports. Interestingly, the NFL’s 2025 Record and Fact Book also incorrectly lists Gardner's birthday as 2000, leaving the source of this ongoing mix-up unclear.
