Sixers' Josh Harris releases statement about Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid
The Philadelphia 76ers have officially acquired Jaylen Brown. With the league's moratorium period officially lifted on Monday, transactions around the NBA can now become official and the Sixers were able to welcome 5-time All-Star and finals MVP Brown to Philadelphia.
Brown is now joining a supremely talented team as he will be flanked by Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and, of course, Joel Embiid. The big fella is somebody who has had his name pop up in trade rumors as the Sixers look to make moves, but team managing partner Josh Harris made a statement regarding Brown and Embiid via an official press release.
"I am incredibly excited to welcome five-time NBA All-Star and 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers,” Managing Partner Josh Harris said. “Throughout his career, Jaylen has proven to be one of the best two-way players in the league. He knows what it takes to win at the highest levels and I can’t wait to see him alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe."

It's the fact that Harris mentioned Embiid first when going down the list of players that appears to signal that the 2023 MVP winner is still in the team's plans. The Sixers can go far as long as Embiid is healthy. With the addition of somebody like Brown, who is a clear upgrade over Paul George at the moment, when considering the age difference and what Brown has accomplished, the Sixers will have as good a shot as anybody to take down the New York Knicks.
