Sturgis softball claims share of Lighthouse Division title

The Sturgis softball team picked up its biggest win of the season on Thursday.

Sturgis defeated Rising Tide 12-11 to punch its ticket into the state tournament, and be crowned co-champions of the Cape and Islands Lighthouse Division alongside Rising Tide.

Elsa Weisner (three scored runs), Julianna Grygent (two runs), Abby McCartin (two runs) and Cassidy Conway (one run, one home run) each collected three hits at the plate. Kaylee Koch (two runs), Nora Adelmann (one run) and Aubrey Flynn each had two hits.

Ryley Mayo, Weisner and McCartin led the defense.

In other high school sports action:

Softball

Barnstable 10, Dennis-Yarmouth 4: The Red Hawks (4-16) snapped a 12-game losing streak as they beat the Dolphins (6-11). Madison Flynn went the distance and struck out 12 for the win.

South Shore Tech 26, Upper Cape 6: The Rams ended their season 5-13.

Monomoy 15, Bourne 4: The Sharks (14-5) swept the season series over the Canalmen (3-18).

Cape Tech 20, Martha’s Vineyard 9: The Crusaders (5-11) snapped a six-game slide as they beat the Vineyarders (3-14).

Sandwich 17, Wareham 3: The Blue Knights (17-3) have won 14 of their last 15 games as they head into the postseason.

Baseball

Sturgis 10, Rising Tide 9: Sturgis (5-8) have won two of their last three games.

Boys Lacrosse 

Falmouth 10, Cohasset 6: The Clippers (16-3) finished the regular season with a win over the top seed in Division 4. Finn Obreracker and Charlie Meserve each recorded hat tricks, and Jackson Smith scored two late goals.

Nantucket 10, Pembroke 3; The Whalers (14-3) bounced back from their third loss of the season last game with a win.
