Team Spoon defeats Team Coop in high-scoring WNBA All-Star Game at Chicago's United Center

Big crowds and the WNBA's best players were in Chicago on Saturday night for the league's All-Star Game.

It was a high-scoring contest at the United Center, with Team Spoon beating Team Coop 129 to 122.

Fans left pretty happy, with many of them telling ABC7 that the game lived up to the hype.

Caitlin Clark put on a show, draining threes. No Chicago Sky players were in the game, but there was still plenty of star power.

A lot of people ABC7 ran into say they were visiting from other states, and they feel like Chicago hosted a great All-Star Game.

"It was awesome. It means a lot, not just for the culture, but for the women's culture also, especially basketball growing as it's growing. It means a lot for the younger kids coming up in a new generation," said Ashanti, who is visiting from Louisiana.

This is the second time the All-Star Game was being hosted in Chicago, but the first time it was played at the United Center.

There have been a number of events all across the city over the last two days, including a fan festival at McCormick Place.

People of all ages took in the action as the WNBA continues to grow the game and inspire so many young girls.

"It was a good time, man, you know, seeing the ladies play. We saw a dunk out there, so that was really cool. It's just nice to see the city of Chicago host the WNBA. Such a growing sport, and I'm got a lot of little sisters, so I'm excited to see where it goes on these next few years," said Nick, a Chicago resident.

The weekend included the league giving back to Chicago as well.

Chicago Sky Star Courtney Vandersloot was part of a giveaway on Saturday morning at the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago. They gave away 200 refurbished laptops and backpacks full of school supplies to those students.

The league's biggest stars also had the opportunity to practice on the court at the new Obama Presidential Center Friday.

They got a surprise visit from the former president himself, and he shared words of encouragement to the players.

"All of you are extraordinary and I could not be bigger fans. The way the game has been going lately, the way it's been picking up, and people paying attention to your excellence, I think, has been something for basketball fans generally, a sight to see," former President Barack Obama said.
