Welcome to another week of votes at MWCConnection! As most people know, there is no official Pac-12 Media Days this year, although a few teams are doing their own mini-media days. We aren’t letting that keep us from releasing our inaugural Pac-12 preseason votes this week. For those familiar, it will be exactly like our Mountain West votes from last week. For those who are new to reading us, we provide a brief explanation of our voting process below.

Members of our team submitted their votes, and we selected the top vote-getters for each position to form our two teams. There are 12 players selected for both offense and defense. Since offensive formations are so different, we put 2 RBs and 2 WRs on the team, plus a FLEX, which can be either a RB or WR. Defensively, we have two defensive linemen, two edge players, then three linebackers and four defensive backs, with a FLEX added as well. For special teams, we have a kicker, a punter, a long-snapper, and a returner. That adds up to 28 players on each team, and a total of 56 players recognized.

Disclaimer: Keep in mind that every voter views the process differently. Some vote for players based on who is the best entering the season. Others see it as a prediction of how players will play by the end of the season. Some include transfers new to the conference, while others don’t. There are a lot of great players in the conference and only so many spots. Arguments can be made for many guys to be mentioned or to be on a higher team. There will always be snubs. Always. The goal is that every player on this list is deserving, even if not every deserving player ends up making the list.

Notes:

• There were 5 unanimous selections: Sutton, Riley, Carreon, Virgin-Morgan, and Harris.
• This year, all 8 teams are represented.
• Boise State led the way by a large margin, both in first-team players and total all-conference selections.
• Fresno State and Texas State also had a high number of players featured, which speaks to the talent on their rosters.
• The Beavers are about the middle of the pack for selections, which is a bit surprising considering last year’s struggles and mixed reviews on how they will fare this year.
• Teams like Utah State and Colorado State may be in the bottom half of the conference for total players featured, but they made the most of it, with the majority of their players on the first team.
• Conversely, the Broncos, Bulldogs, and Bobcats had about half their players on the second team this season.
• The closest battles were at quarterback, tight end, linebacker, and returner, with only a few votes separating the first- and second-team selections.
• There were a few tough battles for second-team spots. Specifically, wide receiver, offensive line, defensive line, and defensive back. Arguments could have been made for a few others to appear on our lists.
