The No. 1-ranked safety in the 2028 class plans to visit Texas A&M

Texas A&M's 2028 recruiting class will take center stage by this time next year, and while the No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle remains the focus for coach Mike Elko, the Aggies have made strides with two priority defensive backs in the 2028 cycle, as four-star cornerback Jordan Hicks plans to visit the Aggies this fall, while five-star DB and the No. 1-ranked 2028 safety Casey Barner is also looking forward to a game-day visit.

Texas A&M has dominated the Georgia recruiting landscape in the 2026 cycle, and after landing four commits from Florida, Elko and his staff continue to prove they can navigate the chaotic, NIL-driven recruiting landscape and compete with every program in the country, regardless of state or region. Furthermore, Mike Elko's background in developing cornerbacks and safeties is nearly unmatched.

Currently ranked as Rivals' No. 1 prospect in the 2028 cycle, Barner's focus this offseason before his all-important junior season is on increasing his speed and awareness, adding more muscle to his frame, and studying film as much as possible. Speaking with AggieYell insider Joseph Hastings, Barner plans to visit the Aggies during one of their seven home games this season.

“Yes sir, I’m planning on getting back to College Station this season and experiencing the atmosphere on game day,” Barner stated.

Barner also stated that the Texas A&M coaching staff has made him feel like a "priority" while praising Mike Elko's "strong vision" for the Aggies, which made significant strides last season after making the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.

Texas A&M safeties coach Ishmael Aristide is already an established recruiter with an equally impressive development background and continues to play an instrumental role in Barner's recruitment; this relationship has only strengthened since the Aggies first pursued the standout DB.
