Titans training camp preview: 3 rookies who could surprise

It's finally time for the Tennessee Titans to kick off training camp when their rookie class reports to the facility on Thursday for an acclimation period before veterans report next week.

The Titans are counting on some significant contributions from some members of this class, with Carnell Tate, Keldric Faulk, and Anthony Hill Jr. all expected to take on major roles in their rookie season. But all of their draft picks have a chance to contribute in 2026.

While Tate, Faulk, and Hill know what their path to playing time consists of, the rest of their draft class could face a tougher time working their way into a rotation. Of the remaining five draft picks, three could quickly find their way onto the field.

RB Nick Singleton

At a glance, Singleton would look like he is buried on the depth chart, especially after missing most of the offseason work recovering from a Senior Bowl foot injury. While Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears sit ahead of him and have been touted as the team's lead backs, neither has proven to be a complete difference-maker. Pollard is consistent and solid, but he appears to lack the dynamic game-changing abilities that teams look for, and Spears has not shown the ability to stay healthy, battling injuries for most of the past two seasons.

Singleton will enter camp healthy and have a chance to surprise and work his way into the rotation. Plus, with both Pollard and Spears entering the final year of their contracts, Tennessee will likely want to see what it has in Singleton. This in no way says he is a starter Day 1 like Tate, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him find his way into some critical snaps during the season.

C Pat Coogan

Although Tennessee drafted Fernando Carmona ahead of Coogan, the experienced center has the look of a potential starter early in his career. The rookie from Indiana will have to battle Austin Schlottmann and late addition Andre James early in camp, but with championship pedigree and a ton of intangibles, he could surprise.

TE Jaren Kanak

Tennessee has the top of their tight end depth chart secure with Gunnar Helm and Daniel Bellinger; behind them, the competition is wide open. Kanak is an intriguing prospect as a tight end and is still developing after only one season at Oklahoma.

Kanak is a former linebacker who brings impressive athleticism to the room, and with experience on both sides of the ball, his profile screams special-teams ace. With multiple depth concerns across the roster, his combination of experience should help him carve out a role early in his tenure.
