UFC 329 video: Gable Steveson shines in debut, wins by first-round KO

Gable Steveson has picked up his first win under the UFC banner.

On the prelims of UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Steveson (4-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) stepped into the octagon as the largest betting favorite on the card to face Elisha Ellison for his debut bout. The heavyweight bout had a don't-blink feel to it, and Steveson proved why by finishing the fight with strikes at 2:31 of Round 1.

Steveson made good on the hype and expectations for his first UFC fight. Ellison entered the fight with a lot of confidence and offered some resistance to test Steveson's chin, but was unable to halt the accumulation of jabs and body kicks. After a short pause in the fight for a low front kick from Steveson, the Olympic gold medalist wrestler went back to work, picking Ellison apart.

After drilling some knees from the Thai clinch and big punches along the fence, Ellison crashed to the canvas.

Steveson can now call himself a winning UFC fighter, and his training with UFC legend Jon Jones showed in this performance. As an MMA fighter, Steveson is still inexperienced, with just four wins, but could find himself quickly climbing the ladder, given his profile as a decorated wrestler.
