UNC and Oklahoma Set to Clash in College World Series Finals
North Carolina and Oklahoma, having outperformed all other teams in the 2026 College World Series, are set to compete for the national championship in a highly anticipated best-of-three series. Both teams entered the finals undefeated in the main bracket, making their matchup fitting for the title.
The Tar Heels, seeded fifth, return to the championship round for the first time since their consecutive finals appearances in 2006 and 2007. With this year’s tournament, UNC has now made a total of 12 trips to the College World Series, second only to Florida State's 24. Meanwhile, the Sooners, who have previously claimed two titles, last won the championship in 1994, with their first victory dating back to 1951.
The schedule for the finals is as follows: Game 1 will take place on Saturday, June 20, at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Game 2 on Sunday, June 21, at 2:30 p.m. ET, and a potential Game 3 on Monday, June 22, at 7 p.m. ET if necessary. Fans can catch all the action on ESPN and ABC, with streaming available on the ESPN app and fubo.
Each game will feature Karl Ravech as the play-by-play announcer, supported by analysts Chris Burke and Kyle Peterson. Additionally, an alternate broadcast will be presented on ESPNU, which aims to provide a unique viewing experience with special guests and fan interaction.
This weekend's series promises to be memorable, as both teams vie for a title that would be a cherished achievement in their storied programs.
