UNC basketball makes cut for five-star prospect
In the first offseason under Michael Malone, North Carolina is trying to establish some roots on the recruiting trail for future classes. Malone was able to keep a few recruits for the 2026 cycle, plus land another in Kevin Thomas. But now, Malone and his staff are working on future classes.
North Carolina has yet to land a commit in the 2027 or 2028 classes, but they are making some progress. On Monday, the Tar Heels made the top eight for a big recruit they are after.
Five-star small forward Demarcus Henry cut his list of 24 offers down to a final eight. He announced on the "Henry Legacy" podcast with his siblings that he is focusing on Ohio State, BYU, Louisville, Kentucky, North Carolina, Arkansas, UConn, and Kansas.
The 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward plays at Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona. He's one of the top overall players in the 2027 class, ranking No. 5 nationally, No. 1 small forward and the No. 2 player in the state of Arizona per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
As of now, Henry does not have a visit scheduled to UNC but that likely will change as we get closer to the Fall months.
