Undefeated world champion Shakur Stevenson signs multi-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing

Zuffa Boxing just landed a massive one.

Undefeated four-division world champion superstar Shakur Stevenson has signed a multi-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing, the new boxing venture led by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White and backed by some serious combat sports muscle.

Stevenson, 29, is already considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing and is looking to become the face of Zuffa Boxing as the promotion continues to make massive waves in the sweet science. He is also coming off a one-way beatdown of Teofimo Lopez, capturing the WBO and The Ring junior welterweight titles in the process (watch highlights).

“Line them up, one by one, and I’ll beat all the top guys once I get them in front of me,” Stevenson said in a press release. “With Zuffa Boxing, I’m going to go after the biggest fights in the sport and I will become the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”

That is exactly the kind of talk White loves.

“Shakur is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world,” White said. “He’s 29 years old, undefeated and already a four-division world champion. This is a massive signing for Zuffa Boxing, and I’m looking forward to promoting this next fight.”

While Stevenson’s next opponent was not announced, White teasing “this next fight” makes it sound like Zuffa Boxing already has something cooking — and will be announced in the coming weeks.

Stevenson has long been linked to massive fights against the likes of Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney and several other top names around his weight class, but like most things in boxing, those fights have been difficult to get over the finish line.

Maybe Zuffa Boxing can finally change that.

White has repeatedly said Zuffa Boxing is coming after the biggest names in the sport, and signing Stevenson is easily the promotion’s biggest move yet.
