Wenger backs Klopp for Germany but says problems run deeper
Top FIFA official and former Arsenal coach Arsène Wenger believes Germany have deeper issues than who is the coach following their third straight early exit from a men's World Cup.
Wenger, FIFA's chief of global football development, told a TikTok live show hosted by 2014 Germany World Cup winner Toni Kroos on Monday that Klopp was the right option.
"But I'm not sure whether that changes everything. You have bigger problems in Germany," he added.
Julian Nagelsmann resigned following the last-32 exit to Paraguay but Wenger said, "I don't think he made big mistakes in this tournament.
"At the moment Germany is missing something - you can see in this tournament how important a real goalgetter is."
Germany needed a player who scores in decisive moments "like Harry Kane of England. But that doesn't exist in Germany at the moment," Wenger added.
"Good players need a great coach. And great managers need good players. You need both together."
