The MLB season is about to reach the dog days of August, but that doesn't mean there won't be a flurry of activity around the league.

The MLB trade deadline is fast approaching, with organizations having only one week until the Monday, Aug. 3 deadline.

Front offices around the sport will have to decide if they're going all in for a playoff push or to further distance themselves atop the standings, or send out stars and assets to rebuild and retool for next season and beyond.

The New York Yankees and New York Mets are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

The Yankees are coming off of a series win over the Phillies and have been entrenched as one of the top teams in the American League all season long despite the extended absence of Aaron Judge, who has been injured the last three months, last taking the field on May 31.

It's been the opposite for the Mets, whose 12-game losing streak in April set the tone for what's been a lost season in Queens, owning one of the worst records in all of baseball in 2026.
