With a World Cup title on the line, Spain is putting Argentina on notice.

On Sunday, Ferran Torres scored the first goal of the night during extra time to give Spain a 1-0 lead over Argentina on Sunday, July 19 at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. Torres' 106th minute goal brings Spain's World Cup total to 14.

If Spain beats Argentina, it will win the nation's second-ever tournament title, $50 million in prize money and a championship ring.

World Cup knockout round format

The World Cup becomes a single-elimination tournament once the knockout stage begins. The 32 remaining teams have been placed into a bracket, and the field will halve itself during each ensuing round of the tournament until a winner is crowned.

The lone exception is that the two semifinal losers will play in a third-place game ahead of the World Cup final.
