World Cup final set for historic spectacle with A-list celebrities – Live updates
This year, the FIFA World Cup action is as notable off the pitch as on it.
Before Spain and Argentina battle for soccer supremacy, a pre-game closing ceremony featuring Tom Cruise, as well as performances from Post Malone, Robbie Williams, Nicole Scherzinger, Italian superstar Laura Pausini and influencer IShowSpeed will unfold at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Then, for the first time in its nearly 100-year history, FIFA will host a halftime show akin to the Super Bowl. The 11-minute spectacle doused with musical celebs – Shakira, Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber, Coldplay's Chris Martin, Kermit, Miss Piggy and more – will take over the New York New Jersey Stadium (aka MetLife Stadium) field during an extended halftime.
