Wrobleski Addresses Workload Concerns Amid Career Season

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Justin Wrobleski spoke about his workload, as he has thrown more regular season innings this year than he had in entire career prior to 2026.

Wrobleski took over a spot in the rotation after one long relief appearance earlier in the season, and has been fantastic ever since. As a starter this season, Wrobleski has a 2.45 ERA through 102.2 innings pitched, allowing 28 runs while striking out 78 batters. His efforts so far this season earned him a spot on the NL All-Star Team.

His ERA as a starter ranks second-best among regular starters for the Dodgers this season, only behind Shohei Ohtani, who is periodically abstaining from pitching as he deals with irritation in his knee.

Despite his heavy workload this season, Wrobleski has complete faith that the Dodgers are doing what’s best for him.

“At the end of the day, [the organization] will do what’s best for me and my career, and I trust the organization and these people.

“My job is always to go out there and give them whatever they need from me that day, and pitch until they take the ball away from me. Today, that was 6.1 innings. We’ll see where that goes the rest of the year.”

Despite his heavy workload, Wrobleski is still pushing forward at full speed. His most recent start came in a win against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, where he threw his seventh quality start of the season—allowing just one run through 6.1 innings with seven strikeouts.

What Has Made Justin Wrobleski So Good in 2026?

Consistent with years past, Wrobleski has absolutely pounded the zone so far this year. He hits the zone 53.9% of the time, and generates first pitch strikes 64.9% of the time, which ranks him 67th of 234 qualified pitchers from 2025 and 2026.

In addition to filling the zone, Wrobleski has reduced the rate at which he allows hard-hit balls by 5% compared to last season. He is getting players to chase out of the zone to generate weaker contact, and it has improved his results—especially with players making significantly more contact on chase pitches.

This skillset makes Wrobleski a unique case among good MLB pitchers, who usually highly rely on the strikeout to get most of their outs.

If Wrobleski continues producing at his current rate, he will be a key pitcher down the stretch for the Dodgers.
