Philadelphia 76ers 2025 mock draft including Round 1 mock trade

The Philadelphia 76ers own the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft as they look to add a young piece to the roster in an effort to bounce back after a miserable season. The Sixers certainly need an injection of youth into a roster that relied so much on older players in 2024-25 which proved to be a mistake in today's NBA.

With that No. 3 pick, the Sixers can look at some of the top players in the draft such as Ace Bailey, VJ Edgecombe, Tre Johnson, Kon Knueppel, or others. However, when considering how paramount younger pieces and depth have become in today's league, maybe the Sixers should trade down and add more to the roster.

In this mock draft, and a huge reminder that is a *mock* draft and a *mock* trade. This is not based on reporting and is just an idea. There is a school of thought that makes sense for the Sixers to trade down and acquire more depth and more picks.

Here is the trade idea plus mock picks both Round 1 and Round 2:

Mock trade with the Brooklyn Nets

Sixers receive: Cam Johnson, picks No. 19 and 27

Nets receive: Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond, No. 3 pick

This deal depends on Oubre and Drummond opting into their deals for 2025-26, but all signs point to that happening. Overall, this trade allows the Sixers to bring in a proven player in Johnson who can knock down an open look from deep (39% in 2024-25) and has Finals experience while with the Phoenix Suns in 2021. He can put the ball in the basket, get after it defensively, and make plays with his passing. He can slide into the starting lineup and properly space the floor for the stars to operate. With all due respect to Oubre who did so much for this group, he is not much of a shooter and the threat of Johnson being open for 3 scares teams more than Oubre would.

The two draft picks allow Philadelphia to add more youth to the roster as it looks to the future. When looking at the way the 2025 playoffs has played out, depth and youth are important in terms of roster building. Moving off the No. 3 pick's salary would also help Philadelphia create more financial flexibility to re-sign Quentin Grimes and Guerschon Yabusele.

Round 1, pick No. 19: Rasheer Fleming, Saint Joseph's

2024-25 stats: 14.7 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.5 bpg, 53.1% FG, 39% 3FG

Fleming is a long, versatile defender who can take on multiple options on a nightly basis. He needs to defend a guard? Easy. You need him to switch onto a wing or even a big? He can do that, too. When one looks at his raw defensive numbers, one cannot help but be impressed by what he can do and the possibility of it all. He's listed at 6-foot-8 with a 7-foot-5 wingspan so those are assets that will certainly help him transition to the NBA easily. On the offensive end, he uses his energy to constantly move and find open spots on the floor to get himself easy buckets at the basket and he can stick an open 3. He makes a lot of sense for Philadelphia.

Round 1, pick No. 27: Ryan Kalkbrenner, Creighton

2024-25 stats: 19.2 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.5 apg, 2.7 bpg, 65.3% FG, 34.4% 3FG

A 5-year player in college, Kalkbrenner stands at 7-feet tall so if the Sixers are thinking size, then he's their man. He is skilled around the basket, can step out and knock down a shot--which helps when he can just shoot over anybody--and has some good passing skills. Originally thought of as a second-round pick, it appears he has shot up some draft boards and would be an option in this situation. With Drummond being traded in the above mock trade idea, the Sixers would need some size and options behind Joel Embiid and Kalkbrenner would offer that size.

Round 2, pick No. 35: Chaz Lanier, Tennessee

Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier (2) with the shot attempt during the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game against Houston at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

2024-25 stats: 18.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.1 apg, 0.9 spg, 43.1% FG, 39.5% 3FG

After four seasons at North Florida, Lanier transferred to Tennessee for a fifth season of college and shot the lights out. He took 8.2 triples per game and knocked then down at a nearly 40% clip in the toughest conference in college basketball. His age will turn a lot of teams off. He will turn 24 in December, but he might be worth a look as a specialist with a second-round pick.
