Aaron Brewer Shows Up for Dolphins Minicamp Amid Contract Negotiations

The Miami Dolphins kicked off their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, set to continue through Thursday. Following this, the team will engage in their last week of spring practices, with voluntary organized team activities scheduled for the 8th, 9th, and 11th of next week. After the OTAs, the Dolphins will enjoy a five-week hiatus before the start of training camp.

Players who miss mandatory minicamp without a valid excuse face hefty fines: $17,900 for the first day, $35,900 for the second, and $53,900 for the third, potentially totaling $107,700. To avoid these penalties, some players opt to attend but refrain from participating in drills, instead observing from the sidelines.

Center Aaron Brewer, who is entering the final year of his contract with a base salary of $1.215 million and a $4.947 million cap hit after a restructure in March, has been in the spotlight. Following a successful 2025 season, where he earned Second-Team All-Pro recognition and was nominated for the Protector of the Year Award, Brewer had missed the previous week’s voluntary OTAs due to a family obligation. However, he chose to attend the mandatory minicamp and actively participated in practice.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Brewer explained his decision to practice, stating, “I know one way to go about things and that’s working and keeping my head down. That’s what I come out here and do every day. Lead the guys.” He expressed his ambitions for the upcoming season, aiming for Pro Bowl selection and the title of Protector of the Year.

Regarding contract discussions, Dolphins head coach Hafley mentioned, “Sully and I have had talks, but I think those are between Sully and I. I love Brewer. I love the way he’s practiced. I love the way he’s gone about his business, and hopefully that gets ironed out.” Spotrac estimates Brewer's next contract could be worth $50 million over four years, potentially positioning him among the highest-paid centers.
