Arizona Cardinals Provide Injury Updates as Minicamp Kicks Off

The Arizona Cardinals have commenced their mandatory veteran minicamp, with practices scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. However, several key players are not participating due to injuries or other circumstances.

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett and EDGE rusher Josh Sweat are both present at the minicamp but have not taken part in any of the organized team activities (OTAs) thus far. Attendance at these sessions is crucial, as players face fines for missing them.

Among the injured, defensive tackle Walter Nolen III is recovering from a torn meniscus sustained during his rookie season. After starting the year on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to a calf injury, Nolen made his debut in November but suffered the knee injury in Week 16. Although he was seen on the sidelines in regular attire, the coaching staff is exercising caution with his return.

Linebacker Karson Sharar is also sidelined with an undisclosed injury, while cornerback Garrett Williams continues to recover from a torn Achilles tendon suffered last season. Williams is not expected to be ready for the upcoming training camp and will likely start the season on the PUP list. Safety Kitan Crawford, who has lingering effects from an ankle injury, and tight end Tip Reiman, also recovering from an ankle issue, were both seen in civilian clothes at minicamp.

Meanwhile, running back James Conner was not present, as he continues to recover from a serious ankle injury, and running back Trey Benson is working his way back after a meniscus tear. Despite the challenges, some players, like rookie wide receiver Marv Harrison Jr., have returned to full participation after overcoming their own setbacks.
