Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: CB Elijah Culp

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Here is cornerback Elijah Culp.

Elijah Culp background, 2025 season

Culp is a rookie. He signed with the Cardinals as a rookie free agent after going undrafted out of James Madison. Culp played a season at Austin Peay, two seasons at Troy, two years at Charlotte and last season for James Madison. He started all 13 games in 2025, logging 46 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, eight pass breakups and an interception.

In his college career, Culp played in 44 games and had 106 tackles, three interceptions and 14 passes defensed.

Elijah Culp contract details, cap hit

Culp signed a three-year contract worth a little more than $3.1 million. He received a $25,000 signing bonus. He will make $885,000 in salary in 2026 if he makes the roster, and $272,500 is guaranteed. He will count more than $893,000 against the salary cap.

Roster outlook, questions he faces

Culp is unlikely to make the 53-man roster, based on who is already on the offseason roster. Will Johnson, Denzel Burke, Garrett Williams (if he doesn't start the year on PUP/IR) and Sean Murphy-Bunting all appear to be locks. Max Melton and Star Thomas also are likely. There just aren't the numbers, but his salary guarantee equals a practice squad salary, so the team anticipated him being on there at least.
