Aroldis Chapman’s Recovery Progresses Amid Limited Use, Says Chad Tracy

Boston Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman is currently nursing a persistent hamstring injury, yet this setback hasn't hindered his performance as he holds the lowest earned run average in Major League Baseball this season. However, during a recent game on Thursday, he allowed an earned run for the first time in over two months.

Interim manager Chad Tracy provided updates on Chapman’s recovery, indicating that the pitcher is showing signs of improvement. Interestingly, Tracy noted that the Red Sox's struggles in recent games have contributed to Chapman’s limited appearances. "We are getting better. I'm sure it's moderately there, but it's improving a lot," he remarked on Wednesday regarding the status of Chapman’s injury. "Unfortunately, the case of it improving is because we haven't had to use him much. But in his case, we use him in the ninth, and if we aren't (winning), he gets to rest."

Throughout June, Chapman has only taken the mound three times. He managed to pitch a scoreless inning against the New York Yankees on June 5, followed by another scoreless inning against the Texas Rangers on June 13. Most recently, he faced the Toronto Blue Jays on June 18, where he surrendered the game-losing run in a tie situation. Despite the circumstances, many believe that utilizing one of baseball's top arms just three times in 18 days is an unfortunate waste of talent.
