Bemidji Dominates Detroit Lakes in Commanding Doubleheader
BEMIDJI — The Bemidji American Legion baseball team continued its impressive run on Thursday, achieving a dominant sweep over Detroit Lakes with scores of 15-0 and 16-0. Just two days prior, Bemidji had already showcased their offensive prowess by scoring 26 runs in only 10 innings.
In the first game, Gunner Ganske delivered an outstanding performance on the mound, completing a one-hit shutout and striking out nine batters. Meanwhile, his efforts at the plate helped him finish 2-for-4, including a triple and a double, contributing two RBIs to his team’s cause. Brennen Brower also made an impact, hitting a triple during his 2-for-3 outing, while Lawson Berg recorded two doubles in a 3-for-4 performance. Other contributors included Kash Rasmus and Heaton Brodina, who each added doubles.
The second game saw Ganske and Jack Zellmann both go deep with home runs. Ganske excelled again, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Eli Hoffman and Zellmann also notched multiple hits. The offensive onslaught continued as Hoffman, Berg, Brodina, J.D. Wood, and James Garrison each contributed extra-base hits.
Following a tough start to their season at 0-2, the Centaurs have now surged to a seven-game winning streak, improving their overall record to 7-2.
In the opening game, Bemidji won 15-0, with Ganske earning the victory after pitching five innings, allowing just one hit without any runs. The second game concluded with a similar score of 16-0, where Wyatt Tverstol secured the win, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out six in five innings of work.
