Bengals OTA Highlights: Tee Higgins Shines with Spectacular Catch
The Cincinnati Bengals continued their offseason training on Tuesday, showcasing the team's evolving talent and strategies. Among the notable returnees on the field were Ja'Marr Chase and DJ Turner, both of whom had been absent for previous sessions. Turner, who is still negotiating a new contract, made a statement by sporting a new jersey number, 0, during the workouts.
With Turner back, Jalen Davis stepped up to take first-team snaps at the slot position. Although the Bengals have not expressed current interest in free agent Kenny Moore as an alternative, Davis's performance will be key as the team evaluates its options. On the offensive line, Joe Flacco was protected by a lineup that included Jalen Coker at left tackle and Brian Parker at left guard. Coker, a promising talent after spending last season on the practice squad, has the potential to challenge Cody Ford for the swing tackle role when fully fit.
The defensive line featured Cashius Howell, Shemar Stewart, Kris Jenkins, and Cedric Johnson, with Stewart's positioning being particularly noteworthy. After spending much of last season inside, he has been observed taking on an outside role during these sessions, which could reflect a strategic shift for the Bengals' defense.
Quarterback Joe Burrow continued to impress during the OTAs, with a standout moment coming from a deep pass to Tee Higgins. Higgins made an incredible adjustment to secure the catch, showcasing his skill despite tight coverage from Dax Hill. Reflecting on the play, Higgins stated, “It felt good man, I needed that. I hadn’t caught a deep ball since last season so that felt good.”
As the Bengals prepare for the upcoming season, these offseason workouts are crucial for team cohesion and individual player development.
