Bills Considered Ideal Trade Option for Saints' Alvin Kamara

The Buffalo Bills are undergoing significant changes this offseason, marking the first time since 2017 that the team will be led by a new head coach. With hopes of breaking through in the postseason, the Bills have made some strategic roster moves, including trading for wide receiver D.J. Moore and bolstering their defense with the additions of Bradley Chubb and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. However, as they aim for a competitive edge in 2026, there may be further trades on the horizon.

One potential move that has garnered attention is the possibility of the Bills acquiring running back Alvin Kamara from the New Orleans Saints. Kamara has spent his entire career with the Saints and has been recognized as one of the league's most dynamic playmakers. Nonetheless, after a disappointing performance in 2025, coupled with the Saints' acquisition of Travis Etienne, Kamara's future in New Orleans appears uncertain.

Bob Rose from Saints Wire identified six plausible trade destinations for Kamara, listing Buffalo as a prime candidate. While the Bills have a reliable starting running back in James Cook, who led the league with 1,621 rushing yards last season, the depth behind him raises concerns. The combined rushing output from backups Davis and Johnson was only 475 yards last year, highlighting the need for additional support. Kamara could serve as a versatile option, particularly on passing downs or when Cook requires a break.

Rose also noted that the Bills' coaching staff, including head coach Joe Brady and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, has previous experience working with Kamara. Despite finishing the 2025 season with just 471 rushing yards, 186 receiving yards, and a single touchdown, Kamara's track record includes five Pro Bowl selections and the title of Offensive Rookie of the Year, leaving the door open for a significant rebound in a new environment.

The Saints are unlikely to demand a hefty price for Kamara, given his age and impending free agency in 2027. For the Bills, this presents a low-risk opportunity that could yield substantial rewards if Kamara returns to form.
