Braves Fall Short Again, Drop Series to White Sox in Narrow Loss
June 10, 2026; Chicago, Illinois, USA - The Atlanta Braves faced another tough defeat, succumbing to the Chicago White Sox 2-1, marking their third series loss of the season. This time, however, it was the first series in which the Braves lost the opening two games. Holding onto the hope that a turnaround could come, fans are eager for a rebound.
Chris Sale’s performance on the mound mirrored his previous outing against Toronto, characterized by soft hits and navigating through challenging situations, with little support from the offense. Despite throwing 103 pitches over 5.2 innings and allowing just two runs, Sale showcased his trademark fastball, reaching 98 mph even on his final pitch, which unfortunately struck Jacob Gonzalez.
The Braves managed to keep the game scoreless for the initial three innings, but the fourth saw the White Sox capitalize on their opportunities. Braden Montgomery, who led off with a double, scored shortly after on a single by Derek Hill, followed by an RBI groundout, putting Chicago ahead 2-0.
In a classic duel, Sale was outmatched by Davis Martin, who delivered six scoreless innings with six strikeouts. The Braves had a golden chance in the second inning, loading the bases with only one out, but could not convert, ending the inning with a strikeout and a lineout.
Although the Braves showed some life in the seventh, reducing the deficit to 2-1 with a hit from Ozzie Albies, they were unable to rally further. A brief appearance from James Karinchak in the eighth marked his first big league game since 2023, where he managed to keep the White Sox at bay despite allowing a double. However, the Braves’ efforts fell short in the ninth, with a final score of 2-1.
As the teams prepare for the series finale, the Braves are keen on finding their footing and avoiding a sweep against the White Sox.
