Bulls' Caleb Wilson takes as many shots in a day as I've probably taken in my entire life

The Chicago Bulls have plenty to be excited about after the early returns from the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Caleb Wilson has hit the ground running in his NBA Summer League debut, posting averages of 27.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.0 steals through the first two games. He's looked every bit like the electric player fans saw at UNC, and he's showcased many aspects of his game.

One area that Wilson was quick to highlight was the time and effort he puts in behind the scenes on his shot, and the number of attempts he gets up on a daily basis is simply jaw-dropping.

While speaking with reporters, Wilson said he takes between 2,000 and 2,500 shots every day, as The Athletic's Joel Lorenzi revealed.

“Probably like 2,500 or 2,000 shots per day for two and a half months ... You get more confidence putting in the work," Wilson said.

He was then asked about his regimen at UNC and whether he was shooting that many shots; he said he couldn't because of needing to go to class.

"I didn’t really have the time. I had to go to class," he continued. "....That’s what’s good about the NBA, it’s just your job."

I've played a lot of pickup basketball and in various leagues over the years, and I'm not sure I've even taken 2,000 or 2,500 shots across all that time. Obviously, my full-time job isn't to get buckets, but that's still an incredible number of shots to take daily over multiple months, so credit to Wilson for putting in the time consistently throughout the early stages of his NBA career.
