Cameron Brink's Injury Sidelines Sparks Star in Key Matchup Against Lynx

Los Angeles, California - The LA Sparks will face the Minnesota Lynx without forward Cameron Brink, who has been ruled out for Wednesday night’s game. This news comes as a blow to the Sparks, who currently hold a 7-7 record and are striving to secure a spot in the playoffs. Brink has been experiencing a breakout season, particularly after overcoming significant injuries in her first two years in the WNBA.

Brink’s latest injury occurred during a disappointing 78-58 defeat to the Golden State Valkyries on Monday. In the latter stages of the game, the 24-year-old was observed limping off the court before collapsing onto the floor, prompting immediate assistance from teammates and staff.

Due to her history with injuries—most notably a torn ACL in her rookie season—this latest setback raises concerns. Head coach Lynne Roberts indicated that Brink would not be returning anytime soon, citing an ankle sprain as the issue. The Sparks later confirmed that Brink sustained a left ankle injury, officially sidelining her for the contest against the Lynx. Fortunately, this injury does not appear to be linked to her previous knee problems, although no timeline for her recovery has been announced.

During the 2026 season, Brink has emerged as a key player for the Sparks, averaging 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game while maintaining an impressive shooting percentage of 53.8% from the field. Despite primarily coming off the bench and averaging just 17.5 minutes of playtime, she has proven to be a valuable asset.

Prior to her injury, Brink had been on a positive trajectory, scoring in double figures for eight games this season, with notable performances including 15 points against the Seattle Storm and a season-high nine rebounds versus the Phoenix Mercury. In her absence, the Sparks will rely on Dearica Hamby to step up in the frontcourt as they hope for a swift recovery for Brink.
