Celtics' Payton Pritchard Clarifies Jaylen Brown's Twitch Remarks

Members of the Boston Celtics, particularly those close to Jaylen Brown, are not overly concerned about comments he made during a Twitch stream this offseason. Brown's statement, which came shortly after the Celtics' elimination in the first round of the 2026 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers, referred to the 2025-26 regular season as his favorite, prompting speculation about his intentions.

In a recent discussion with Khari A. Thompson from Boston Dot Com, Celtics guard Payton Pritchard addressed the situation, suggesting that Brown's comments were misinterpreted. "I think people took it wrong," he stated, emphasizing that Brown was likely reflecting on the team's accomplishments throughout the season. Pritchard noted, "What we were supposed to do this year and overcoming that and becoming the No. 2 seed... I think that’s what he meant by that."

Pritchard also highlighted that many had viewed this season as a rebuilding year for the Celtics, yet Brown had a standout performance that he believes warranted a First Team All-NBA selection. "He had a tremendous year," Pritchard asserted, reinforcing the view that Brown's contributions should be recognized appropriately.
