Colorado Rockies Adjust Pitching Roster with Key Moves

PEORIA, ARIZONA - The Colorado Rockies have announced significant changes to their pitching lineup today. The team has selected the contract of right-handed pitcher TJ Shook (#52) from Triple-A Albuquerque, optioned Zach Agnos to the same affiliate, and transferred left-hander Welinton Herrera to the 60-day injured list.

TJ Shook, 28, was acquired by the Rockies during the Minor League Phase of the 2025 Rule 5 Draft from the New York Mets. He has been performing well in Triple-A Albuquerque this season, boasting a record of 2-0 with a 2.86 ERA across 22 appearances. Notably, Shook has recorded seven saves and struck out 29 batters, leading the Pacific Coast League in saves and ranking second in total appearances. After being signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as an undrafted free agent in 2020 from the University of South Carolina, he has accumulated a 34-23 record with 20 saves and a 4.30 ERA throughout six seasons in the minors. This call-up marks his debut in Major League Baseball.

In contrast, Zach Agnos has been optioned back to Triple-A after a promising performance on May 21, where he pitched five shutout innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, his recent outings have not been as successful, allowing 14 earned runs in just three innings over his last two games, prompting the Rockies to send him down for a reset.

The Rockies are also facing challenges with rookie left-hander Welinton Herrera, who has been moved to the 60-day injured list due to left elbow inflammation. Herrera was initially called up following an injury to José Quintana and had shown promise with three solid relief appearances, yielding only two hits and one walk while striking out two. With Herrera sidelined, Brennan Bernardino remains the only left-handed option in the Rockies’ bullpen.
