Cristian Mbamarah Chooses Northwestern, Strengthening Big Ten Roster
Cristian Mbamarah, a talented cornerback from Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, Colorado, has committed to Northwestern University, enhancing the Wildcats' recruitment efforts in the Big Ten Conference. After taking trips to Stanford and Duke, it was his visit to Northwestern that ultimately influenced his decision.
"I’m going to Northwestern," Mbamarah announced on Monday evening, confirming his choice. His visit to the campus played a crucial role in swaying his commitment towards the Wildcats.
During his time at Northwestern, he had the opportunity to meet several coaches, including Ross Kolodziej, LaMarcus Hicks, Maurice Fleming, and David Braun. "All the conversations with these guys were highly valuable and I learned something from each coach," he remarked, highlighting the positive interactions he had with them.
The coaching staff was a significant factor in his decision to join Northwestern. "I think in particular coach Braun and coach Hicks are genuine down to earth guys," Mbamarah stated. "They are men who are honest and I respect that about them. But I can also see their drive and will to work all the time."
Mbamarah stands out as Rivals’ top-ranked prospect in Colorado for the class of 2027 and has received a four-star rating, placing him as the 39th cornerback in the nation. His addition is expected to bolster Northwestern's defensive lineup in the coming years.
