Dakota Riptide Shines at Iowa Swim Meet, Gears Up for Huron Invite
DES MOINES, Iowa — The Dakota Riptide swim team showcased impressive performances during the Trudy Hancock Memorial Invitational held from June 5-7 at the Wellmark YMCA Prairie Meadows Pool. Competitors from states including Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska joined the Riptide for this exciting event.
Kip Wede was a standout for the Riptide, achieving a first-place finish in the 15-and-over mixed 50-meter breaststroke with a swift time of 31.16 seconds. In addition, Wede secured third in the 50-meter breaststroke (30.93) on Sunday, and fourth in both the 100 breaststroke (1:08.67) and 200 breaststroke (2:40.57). He also placed fifth in the 200 medley, finishing in 2:27.49.
The Riptide boys excelled in backstroke events. Ben Anderson earned a podium finish, taking third in the 15-and-over 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.58. He also finished fourth in the 50 back (30.62) and eighth in the 50 freestyle (27.30). Peyton Miller had a busy weekend, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 50 backstroke (31.91) and additional top finishes in the 200 back (2:25.98) and 100 back (1:08.77).
In the younger age categories, Khloe Pfeifer stood out with five top-five finishes in the girls 11-12 division, including third in the 100 breaststroke (1:29.00) and 200 breaststroke (3:11.12). Other notable performances included Grant Kittle's second-place finish in the boys 11-12 50 backstroke (41.91) and Ryken Davis's fifth-place finishes in the boys 13-14 butterfly events.
The Riptide swim team is now set to host their annual Splash Central Invitational in Huron from June 12-14 at Splash Central Water Park, with sessions scheduled for both Friday and the weekend.
