Daniel Cormier Deletes Controversial Screenshots of Eric Trump’s Rigging Inquiry
Former UFC fighter Daniel Cormier recently shared, then removed, screenshots of a conversation with Eric Trump, in which the latter asked if any of the fights at the White House were rigged. This exchange took place ahead of the UFC Freedom 250 event held on the White House lawn last Sunday, where Cormier provided commentary.
Cormier initially posted the screenshots on Twitter, stating, "I’m probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing this to light, however I refuse to stay silent. The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about. I will not tolerate this type of insider behavior. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event."
The conversation contained a series of messages where Eric Trump expressed excitement about attending the event and inquired whether Cormier knew of any fighter injuries or rigged matches. Cormier replied, "No none of our fights rigged and honestly I am appalled that you would even ask me something like that."
Shortly after the tweet was deleted, both men claimed the screenshots were fabricated. Cormier tweeted, "Are people really this dumb?" while Eric Trump stated, "This is completely fake! I have never reached out to Daniel. In fact, this is scary."
Despite their denials, MMA journalist Adam Martin confirmed he witnessed the tweet before it was taken down, asserting, "Yes, the DC tweet was 100% real, I saw it myself." Meanwhile, the UFC has not issued any comments regarding the incident.
The Freedom 250 event, originally scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET, was delayed due to weather conditions and is now set to start around 9:00 p.m. ET.
